Scarlett Johansson New Movie Review of Jurassic World Rebirth (2025)

Jurassic World Rebirth is fittingly titled, as this seventh installment in the series provides a much-needed creative jolt to a franchise that was at risk of getting too stagnant.

Yes, there are some unavoidable tropes common in all Jurassic Park films—the convenience store dino stalking and the shady corporate exec who only cares about a big payday, to name a few—but Jurassic World Rebirth navigates them in a manner to keep it entertaining.

Like most entries in the series, Jurassic World Rebirth has to rely on human stupidity to spark the latest dinosaur nightmare. Fortunately for the credibility of the franchise, if there’s anything with a seemingly bottomless supply, it’s human stupidity. This time it’s not just the creation of dinosaurs in a modern setting, but InGen tampering with dinosaur genetics by splicing DNA of different species to introduce mutant dinosaurs.

That can’t be a bad idea until a researcher carelessly discards his Snickers wrapper. You’re not a careful scientist when you’re hungry; causing a dangerous strand of dinosaurs to be unleashed is lengthy, but it does play along with the Snickers slogan.

In the 23 years since dinosaurs appeared and five years after Jurassic World: Dominion, the thrill is fading, forcing cuts in funding and resources for dinosaur-related attractions. There is a market for dinosaur research on the pharmaceutical front, however, prompting shadowy pharma company rep Krebs (Rupert Friend, Obi-Wan Kenobi) to recruit an expert in recovering objects in the most extreme settings.

Krebs needs to get blood samples from three different species of dinosaurs, which can dramatically advance the company’s research…along with their profit. The only catch is that the dinosaurs are based in an area that’s been forbidden for humans to travel. Sure, it’s breaking the law, but think of all the profits…people who will be saved from this life
