Scarlett Johansson surpasses Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson to become the highest-grossing star in Hollywood.
By going prehistoric, Scarlett Johansson has become historic.
With the recent release of her dinosaur movie Jurassic World Rebirth, Johansson, 40, has become Hollywood’s highest-grossing performer, according to data from The Numbers.
The title of highest-grossing box office actor, before inflation adjustment, was previously held by Johansson’s Marvel Cinematic Universe costar Samuel L. Jackson.
In second place was Robert Downey Jr., another member of that starry ensemble. Thanks to the release of the newest Jurassic installment on Friday, July 2, Johansson has jumped from third to first, putting Jackson, 76, in second place and Downey, 60, in third.
Per The Numbers, Johansson’s grosses come from 36 movies — compared to Jackson's 71 and Downey's 45 — with her top four all being Avengers installments.
In fourth and fifth place are Guardians of the Galaxy stars Zoe Saldaña and Chris Pratt, respectively.
Jurassic World Rebirth has earned an impressive $322.6 million globally during its first six days in theaters, per Box Office Mojo.
The action-adventure film — directed by Gareth Edwards, scripted by David Koepp and produced by franchise launcher Steven Spielberg — stars Johansson as an ex-military operative on a mission to an abandoned facility affiliated with the original Jurassic Park.
